In general to obtain a forklift license a student must complete formal training and gain approx 40 hours of practical log book experience prior to undertaking a forklift assessment. This can be made up of a number of training options listed below:
1. Blueprint Full delivery. This course is suitable for those who are unable to secure practical log book hours in a workplace. The course involves 6 days of training and practical experience in our warehouse. Our warehouse environment has been set up with a range of workplace tasks to simulate a real work environment. Once these tasks and Theory Manual activities have been successfully completed students will be assessed on the final day.
2. Blueprint Formal Training delivery. This course is suitable for those employers who do not wish to or are unable to provide formal training. The course includes 2 days of ‘formal’ training including theory and practical. Students are issued with Theory Manuals for study and a personalised log book which is used to record practical forklift driving experience back at the workplace. Once this is achieved an assessment date is arranged.
3. Employer Partnership. This option is suitable for those participants who have previous experience (or an overseas license) and whose employer is able to provide contributory training. This course includes 1 day formal training and a negotiated training plan. Students will also be required to undertake study through their Theory Manuals and obtain log book experience. Once this is achieved an assessment date is arranged.
4. Employer delivery. This option is only available after negotiation and approval by Blueprint Staff. This option may be suitable for organisations who have existing training plans and processes in place and are wishing to align with a training organisations for licensing purposes. This option involves participation in a range of professional development activities and use of Blueprint resources by agreement. Please contact Blueprint staff for more details.
